Subject: More thoughts on organizing a funeral luncheon

The funeral meal should reflect the character of the deceased while meeting the dietary needs of the living. If the dearly departed had questionable morals, or perhaps outstanding warrants, then serve deviled eggs. While God knows all, sometimes on the day of judgment he may need a little reminder. If the deceased in life had a penchant for handing you chipped coffee mugs at Book Club, use the more worn out backup serving platters from the church basement pantry.

As part of my funeral luncheon planning, I perform a thorough background evaluation of the dead person. Did they serve jail time? How many times were they married? How often did they attend church services? Did they once say something controversial on social media? Knowing the background of the deceased can help you properly plan a funeral luncheon that aligns with proper decorum. Sad to say, after my background checks, it is a rare occasion I serve angel food cake.
