So I tried to frame them with it as I walked towards them.

This was a walk with the alpacas, with quite a bit of alpaca knowledge included: They are really intelligent, have a fairly consistent hierarchy and marching order, they were selectively bred thousands of years ago from vicuña (and sadly produce way too much wool for their own good), they make very cute noises, and they will fight of smaller predators (which includes wolves).<a href="https://chaos.social/tags/TimelineCleanser" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#TimelineCleanser</a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/Alpacas" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Alpacas</a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/Animals" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Animals</a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/Photography" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Photography</a>

Gone are the days of both being Chaser’s shadows.

John :au: :hb:The <a href="https://fairdinkum.one/tags/alpacas" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#alpacas</a> & <a href="https://fairdinkum.one/tags/lambs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#lambs</a> have had their water troughs cleaned & refilled.They are now having some lucerne.I’m still getting hit by the heat hard, but it’s only the first day on the new meds that *might* help with that.The pics tonight are mostly just of the <a href="https://fairdinkum.one/tags/Wiltipoll" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Wiltipoll</a> lambs.They might be looking a bit round these days from their feeds. I’d prefer to overfeed them than underfeed them though.

Got home to see that <a href="https://fairdinkum.one/tags/Petstock" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Petstock</a> had delivered another load of <a href="https://fairdinkum.one/tags/lucerne" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#lucerne</a> bales in our absence.It’s something like $25 a bale here now. The longer our drought goes on, the higher the lucerne prices go. It’s like a <a href="https://fairdinkum.one/tags/livestock" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#livestock</a> <a href="https://fairdinkum.one/tags/feed" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#feed</a> stock market. <a href="https://fairdinkum.one/tags/alpacas" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#alpacas</a> <a href="https://fairdinkum.one/tags/lambs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#lambs</a>

I’m not sure if their stand off is some sort of “you’re in our territory!” or “hurry up & get to the bit where you give us some lucerne!” Very brown outback. Constant hand feeding now. Naked under the fan now, a bucket beside me if more liquid wants to rush up my throat.Where’s our rain?!
