At my last shop we used BikeFlites frequently. They mostly did a good job, but when on occasion a bike would show up damaged it was *impossible* to make a claim. They would outright lie to you over the phone, pretend you hadn't bought the extra insurance, claim that they didn't offer the warranty that they offered, etc. and it took *significant* resources to get them to make it right. It was rare, but when it happened it was a nightmare.

#BikeNite

In the shop most of the fat-tire bikes (fatter than the average MTB anyways) we'd get were e-bikes. Since an e-bike is so expensive to begin with, they would often cut corners elsewhere. Big tires are also more expensive, so they'd use the absolute cheapest, thinnest walled tires they could find. When combined with the torque from a motor they would wear out very fast, and all the torque and weight meant they picked up nails and glass way easier.

#BikeNite

I don’t ever regret having our kid in a Montessori school, but it did mean driving to school every day. She only ever had one neighborhood friend (the girl next door) which dies make me sad. My childhood friends were spread out over all most the entire one square mile of the city I grew up in, and I walked, and biked all over to meet up with them. Sometimes I even told my mom…

Now when I ride around I see long lines of cars picking up kids after school; local neighborhood schools, walkable schools, and it makes me sad. #BikeNite

I’ve never used a cue sheet, unless you count writing on the deck of my sailboat when we have some crazy course to follow in a race. These days I use GPS on my bike, but I only check it if I’m unfamiliar with where I’m going, I kind of explore more often than follow directions. Although I often do plan out a longer ride and mostly memorize it. I used to navigate with paper maps (I still carry them in my vehicles). But never a sextant lol. #BikeNite

Generally bears stay out of town but can be seen close to town. Last year we had a short stretch where there were about 11 bears IN town due to low feed available due to wildfires. (And not just in our town up here). Also Moose in northern BC and they are SCARY in spring (moms with calves) or fall during rut.
