He made his <a href="https://c.im/tags/Broadway" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Broadway</span></a> debut in a production of Antony and Cleopatra, but it was the 1951 Broadway production of <a href="https://c.im/tags/BillyBudd" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>BillyBudd</span></a> playing the title role that brought him his greatest fame.
