Jake in the desert<p>I love when a metal band's name perfectly illustrates what they sound like, and for this week's <a href="https://c.im/tags/ThursDeath" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>ThursDeath</span></a>, FOUL DECAY nails it. </p><p>Foul Decay is just one dude in Queens, and he makes gross, fantastic death metal. Jake in the desert<p>I don't really dig intros, and that's why this week's <a href="https://c.im/tags/ThursDeath" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>ThursDeath</span></a> is unique. In the grand tradition of fine Scandinavian metal before them, Helsinki, Finland's AZATOTH are a fairly new band. But their EP 'Ungodly Carnage' from 2022 is DRIPPING with slime and rot in under 20 minutes- just how I like it. SUPERBLY putrid stuff. </p><p>From the scuzzy solos to yes, the very cool intro (for once!) I've been compiling a 'grody metal' kind of playlist and Mexico's STENCHED is a crown jewel within it. Plus, they have one of the best band names of all time. </p><p>This EP of theirs 'Gorging on Mephitic Rot' from June of last year is solid bangers front to back. I've been listening to it all week. 6 tracks, 23 minutes.
