AlsoPaisleyCat<p>Fashion in ‘North of North’ has generated a lot of comment in social media. </p><p>I’ve noticed that many of these come with assumptions about what women would be wearing in Inuit communities, and a lack of understanding of the importance of sustainable design in Inuit culture.</p><p>CBC has a great feature with interviews with the show’s creators on the point.</p><p>‘The show's emphasis on slow fashion ran counter to a film industry that often operates on a quicker schedule. </p><p>"Nothing here is mass-made," Aglok MacDonald said. Windspeaker.com<p>Inuit knowledge of British polar explorer Sir John Franklin’s voyage played a role in finding the wrecks of HMS Erebus in 2014 and HMS Terror in 2016. Franklin brought the two ships to the Canadian <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/Arctic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Arctic</span></a> in 1847 to explore and map the Northwest Passage.
