A #WhiteHouse plot to axe international broadcasters #RadioFreeEurope / #RadioLiberty has been foiled after presidential advisor #KariLake was forced to rescind a letter cancelling the network’s grants.

It comes just a day after a judge temporarily halted an attempt by the #Trump administration to shut down the station, claiming it would “violate the #Constitution and federal laws.”

Serial #Arizona MAGA loser #KariLake, Trump's appointee to run #VOA, is now completely gutting the entire parent agency #USAGM & mass firing all employees without Senate confirmation. VOA was originally created by Congress to promote Free Speech countering Nazi Propaganda during WWII, so it's easy to see why #musk's #swasticar bought #Trump admin is desperate to shut it down.

The move follows #Trump signing an #ExecutiveOrder on Friday instructing #USAGM & six other little-known agencies to reduce their operations to the bare minimum mandated by the law, saying it was necessary to *shrink bureaucracy* [stop informing the public].

Trump, who clashed w/the #VoiceOfAmerica during his 1st term, picked fmr news anchor #KariLake to be its director for his 2nd term. Lake, a staunch Trump ally, has often accused *mainstream* #media of harboring anti-Trump bias.

In addition, under the leadership of #Trump appointees, the agency has severed all contracts for the privately incorporated international broadcasters it funds, including #RadioFreeEurope / #RadioLiberty , Radio Free Asia & the Middle East Broadcasting Networks

The termination notices for the funded networks, 2 of which were reviewed by NPR, carried the signature … #KariLake …not the agency's acting chief exec. Lake does not appear … to have the statutory authority to carry out that termination

Hobbs was elected Arizona Governor in 2022.

She won her election by 0.67%, or 17,117 votes.

Hobbs narrowly beat conspiracy theorist Kari Lake, who is a passionate promoter of the big lie that Donald Trump actually won the 2020 presidential election, but the election was stolen from him.

Hobbs (D) received 50.3% of the vote, and Lake (R) received 49.6%.
