I genuinely think Kdenlive is at the level of professional video editing software I grew up using (thanks, Mom’s computer!), at least when it comes to my workflow. I’m not looking for all kinds of wild compositing and special effects, but what’s there in Kdenlive works, and works well for me.</p><p>👏 Bravo to Kdenlive for that!</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.blaede.family/tags/KDE" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>KDE</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.blaede.family/tags/Kdenlive" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Kdenlive</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.blaede.family/tags/LinuxForWork" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LinuxForWork</span></a></p>
Cassidy James :eos: :gg: :fh:<p>I guess the obvious answer is to try Pitivi again. I think I’ve been burned by it in the past with it losing a project and waiting a long time for an export to get something that wasn’t accurately following my intended cuts—but maybe it’s gotten better?</p><p>Is that the best option for me to try again, or is there something else that works well and looks good on a modern GNOME desktop that I should be looking at?</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.blaede.family/tags/GNOME" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GNOME</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.blaede.family/tags/videoEditing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>videoEditing</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.blaede.family/tags/AVproduction" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AVproduction</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.blaede.family/tags/LinuxForWork" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LinuxForWork</span></a></p>
Cassidy James :eos: :gg: :fh:<p>I just used Kdenlive to edit together a 15-minute video from about an hour of original footage and a few slide overlays. It worked flawlessly. I'm not doing anything wild and crazy—mostly recordings from OBS w/lots of little jumps to cut out “ums,” “uhs,” dead air, and alternate takes. It went really smoothly!</p><p>I don’t have a problem using the best tool for a job even if it’s not designed specifically for GNOME, but should I be trying a more GNOME-y app?</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.blaede.family/tags/GNOME" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GNOME</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.blaede.family/tags/KDE" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>KDE</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.blaede.family/tags/Kdenlive" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Kdenlive</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.blaede.family/tags/LinuxForWork" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LinuxForWork</span></a></p>
