NMDoerner<p>So, this one here was quite a beast to debug.</p><p>Writing metadata into HEIC files created by iOS 18.x on Apple iPhone PRO and MAX models is much faster now with my <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/NeoFinder" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>NeoFinder</span></a> 8.8 for <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/macOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>macOS</span></a>.</p><p>The problem is that <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Apple" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Apple</span></a> writes some very strange XMP metadata into these files, but only on these iPhone models. They actually write THREE separate, but only partial XMP records, very weird. NMDoerner<p>While writing a new Image Capture feature for my <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/NeoFinder" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>NeoFinder</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/photo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>photo</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/library" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>library</span></a>, I am appalled by how ugly and bad the interface of Apples official "Image Capture.app" has been downgraded to in <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/macOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>macOS</span></a> 15 "Sequoia".</p><p>They use two separately colored checkmarks to indicate very different states. Blue means "currently selected", and green means "downloaded".</p><p>An accessibility nightmare, and the weird selection marker is totally unexpected and never used elsewhere in macOS.</p><p>(and yes, shift-click to select multiple items between the last selected item and the newly clicked item often inexplicably fails, too)</p><p>And last, these icons are not even properly centered, if you look closely.</p><p>Yikes!</p><p>This is truly awful. </p><p><a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Apple" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Apple</span></a> has definitely lost its mojo...</p>
