I recently realized that Git commits could be made on your behalf without your consent.

This could happen because either you left your computer unlocked in a public place (or any place actually), your computer got stolen and the disk wasn't encrypted or any of those combinations.

To prevent this, Git has a "signing" mechanism that proves without any doubt that you made that commit.

It uses GPG, and with power of cryptography, it protects your work from being hacked.

My latest "Bringing PGP to the 21st Century" update:
I’ve set up WKD for all my "public-facing" identities, with both direct and advanced methods working across the relevant domains. I’ve also uploaded all my keys to Keybase, OpenPGP, and Ubuntu keyservers. I even even generated a QR code with the openPGP4FPR URI scheme: https://openpgpkey.accioly.social/

Phil #Zimmermann said it in 1991, when writing the first user manual for #PGP: “if #privacy is outlawed, only outlaws will have privacy”. I quoted and translated his message for the Italian public in 1996, in the book “Telematica per la pace”.

That’s why #France and #Sweden outlawing privacy in 2025 cannot be considered as an expression of gross and inexcusable ignorance, but it must be considered as a deliberate act of governmental control over private communications.

@jbz what I'd like to know is if I can run #ArcaOS in a VM or get a container version. I tried installing #eComStation from CD's in #VirtualBox, based on someone's video, but utterly failed.

All I really want to do is run an old version of #PGP so I can extract my keys and use them as the basis for new #GPG keys. Apparently GPG's backward compatibility only goes so far

Недавно вновь задумывался об безопасном общении, безопасном мессенджере и вот это вот всё.

Круто, что у нас имеются такие сервисы, как #session , #briar , #xmpp , #matrix и прочее, однако это всё, как я понимаю, в той или иной степени можно заблокировать при помощи ТСПУ или типо-того.

Да, можно иметь забугорный #vpn в виде #xray или чего-то еще, но в случае чебурнета оно будет работать? Сможем ли мы достучаться до сервиса, чтобы обойти блокировку?

На фоне всех этих мыслей мне кажется, что единственный реальный способ общения в случае ТРУ-ЧЕБУРНЕТА - это общение в общедоступных сервисах с шифрованием.
Да, факт общения будет виден. Да, будет видно точно кто когда отправлял сообщения. Но сообщения будут шифрованы, расшифровать такое будет не просто (да и будет ли это кто-то делать с учем того СКОЛЬКО это может занять времени), ключи исключительно на устройстве, вся фигня.

Это не засейвит от крипторектального взламывателя кода, однако это обеспечит "достаточную бытовую безопасность", а также это позволит быстро сменить "провайдера" на доступные в тот или иной момент и продолжить общение.

Потому я начал серьезно присматриваться к #deltachat - мессенджер поверх почты (хоть свою поднимай, хоть публичную используй), задержка сообщений +- минута, уведомления есть как на #android так и на #pc linux, сообщения зашифрованы #pgp , ключи на устройстве.
Есть мини-игры, to-do и стикеры, нет встроенных звонков (а откуда им взяться?) и голосых (что логично), но такли это важно?
