𝐩fᵣ<p>So I've left <a href="https://social.sdf.org/tags/fastmail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>fastmail</span></a> and am now on <a href="https://social.sdf.org/tags/tuta" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>tuta</span></a>. This was a long decision making process and I nearly went with <a href="https://social.sdf.org/tags/mailbox" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>mailbox</span></a>.org and <a href="https://social.sdf.org/tags/posteo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>posteo</span></a>, but for me <a href="https://social.sdf.org/tags/tuta" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>tuta</span></a> fits the bill. I don't need IMAP or SMTP. The tuta app works fine and so does the web interface. I chose tuta because it's does things differently and it's clear that privacy and security are the priority. </p><p>Fastmail was and is a perfectly good email provider, they just don't give me the same peace of mind, nor privacy features.</p>

I am quite happy at having opened a Posteo mail account. Among other things, they recently announced the first fully quantum-secure encryption protocol (like, the first of anyone, anywhere on Earth).</p><p>But I just looked at <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/Posteo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Posteo</span></a> and, damn, they're good, too.</p><p>Looking thru the feature list is just awesome. Mail schon lange bei <a href="https://social.anoxinon.de/tags/posteo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>posteo</span></a> . Kostet 1€ pro Monat. Das sollte drin sein. Jorge Soares<p>Many of us are migrating from US services to EU based ones, so I would like to give a warning, services like <a href="https://ciberlandia.pt/tags/mailbox" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>mailbox</span></a> and <a href="https://ciberlandia.pt/tags/posteo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>posteo</span></a> are great, very good value for money, based in Germany, private and secure, however there is a clause that can make you pause, if you fail to pay and don't do it within 30 days your account will be deleted. </p><p>From mailbox T&Cs | Cancellation policy</p><p>"Your account with mailbox.org is a prepaid account. If you do not deposit credit, or if the deposited credit runs out, then your account will be deleted after 30 days (Section 6 of our General Terms and Conditions). After another 30 days we delete all the Data that we stored for you (Section 5 of our General Terms and Conditions)."</p><p>It may not seem terrible, but if it is your main or only email account you may lose everything if you are unable to top up your account for some reason (like going on vacation to the US and being detained for no reason) </p><p>This is probably not an issue for many, but I think that it is something worth mentioning because some may not be aware while signing (although this bubble is likely to read the TOS in full) , services like <a href="https://ciberlandia.pt/tags/tuta" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>tuta</span></a> and <a href="https://ciberlandia.pt/tags/protonmail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>protonmail</span></a> at least have a free backup plan.</p>
