I've been toying with the idea of some sort of Solarpunk/Library Socialism Movement in St. Louis for a while. I do not feel like any current organization deals with the specific issues I'm concerned with in a comprehensive, local way.

As a result, I have a vision I've been toying with that I feel ready to share: nextcloud.nullarch.com/s/qkkis

I'm very open to feedback or interest in this idea/project.

St. Louis finally has a Spanish-language FM radio station with Los 40 STL

St. Louis’ first-ever Spanish-language radio station on an FM signal has launched.

KWRH-FM, a nonprofit community radio station broadcasting from Webster Groves, is transitioning to Los 40 STL, a U.S. affiliate of the internationally acclaimed Spanish Top 40-themed music radio group.

Mark Langston, the general manager at community-licensed KWRH 92.9 FM pictured at their south St. Louis-based studio on Thursday, March 13, 2025, has transitioned programming to cater to Spanish speaking audiences. “It’s been fun for me,” he said. “I’m just happy to be… trying to help a segment of our community that honestly needs a voice on the airwaves.”

I put my work gloves, a chainsaw and an ax in the back of my SUV. We're heading out to see if we can find a place serving hot food. The power is still out unfortunately. We spent three hours working in the yard. I'm a bit bummed by the damage we got but others have it way worse so I'm going to move forward and just deal with it as best I can. Mostly insurance claims anyway.

Have a good Saturday friends! 🙂

Good morning everyone. There is wide spread destruction across the state of Missouri. Multiple tornadoes ripped through our area. We have trees down and hail damage. I haven't been able to access how severe on the roof but the cars have countless dents. We're all safe, that's all that matters. The power has been off since 9pm last night so I hope it's back in soon. I've heard it might be three days.

Stay safe everybody and have a good day.

I got lucky, and only lost power for 2.5 hours.

But, as expected, the storms were severe, but I only dealt with 50mph winds, and no hail in my location.

Will know more tomorrow wrt to damage.

With sunlight. An idiot neighbor was out 2 hours ago, looking at his house with a flashlight. It was not severe here, so I have no idea what he was looking for. It is not like he can call in a claim to his insurance company in the middle of the night.

I did learn that 2 of my 6 flashlights are dead, and not worth the money to get working. One is a nickle-cadmium battery probably no longer available, and the other is a boxy 6 volt, which also may be a problem.

Our yellow mustard cover crop is starting to pop. Because I'm cheap I just stacked brush over it to keep the dogs from trampling it and the sun drying it out instead of straw. That hasn't been an issue, it drying out, because Ajax pisses on it as soon as he walk out the door. 🤦🏼‍♂️ It's apparently great for pollinators so hopefully it takes hold.

TGIF and have a wonderful evening! Hopefully we don't blow away and the hail skips us. Apparently it was 1"+ in southern Missouri.
