Eli Roberson (he/him)<p>I think I need to just get an HP EliteDesk small form factor PC and start hosting more things. $200-300 for a used one and buying new RAM and drives. </p><p>Mostly driven by BitBucket reducing total storage limits. A standard plan is $16.50 a month just for me. LinkWarden cloud is $3 a month. If I *just* hosted those two things (ForgeJo for Git), I break even in 11-15 months. It pointed to the answer, explained the various flags on the commands, and left me knowing more.</p><p>This was after wading through a ton of tech blogs and forum posts, half of which weren’t applicable, the other half boiled down to “just read the iptables docs, it’s all there” or “we already answered this a decade ago.”</p><p><a href="https://mountains.social/tags/selfHost" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>selfHost</span></a></p>
Daniel Colquitt<p>In the process of setting up my own mail server (IMAP + SMTP), I was surprised to discover that Mac OS Mail (v16.0) does not support TLS v1.3 for IMAP+SMTP. Interestingly Mail on iOS 18 does support TLS v1.3, although a number of 3rd party iOS clients do not (inc. Outlook, Spark Mail). Thunderbird does support TLS v1.3.</p><p>It is surprising that the latest version of Mac OS Mail does not support the latest TLS protocols for IMAP+SMTP and I need to enable legacy encryption protocols to send and receive email on Mac.</p><p><a href="https://colquitt.xyz/tags/selfhost" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>selfhost</span></a></p>

The message "your account demand is being reviewed by the staff, this may take some times".<br>I've received the mail with the link to review my own account, bu when I click on it it redirect me to the account's settings. I see the admin and the moderation panels, but when I click on them, again, I'm redirected to the account's settings.<br>I've check on the Web and found 2 commands that may help: the <code>RAILS_ENV</code> and the <code>tootctl</code> ones.
