Ein Anruf genügte und man konnte dem Angerufenen gleichzeitig einen Schadcode aufs Smartphone spielen, der sich die VOLLE Kontrolle über das Gerät erschleichen konnte!

Der Angerufene brauchte/konnte nichts machen. Es langte aus, das der Messenger klingelte!

#Meta have just won an emergency injunction against their former director of global public policy, Sarah Wynn-Williams, to stop her distributing copies of her book, Careless People. The New York Times Book Review described it as, "an ugly, detailed portrait of one of the most powerful companies in the world".

I have just ordered a copy and also sent a recommendation to the #CERN library to buy a copy.

Number of Italian spyware victims likely far higher than previously stated.

The Paragon spyware scandal in Italy erupted after WhatsApp confirmed that spyware had been used to target at least 90 individuals, journalists and activists.

Researchers from Canada's Citizen Lab say that WhatsApp's recent findings represent just one aspect of how Paragon's spyware is installed on mobile devices.

"If it doesn't support #WhatsApp natively, it's going to be a failure" was one of the common criticisms during #UbuntuPhone times ten years ago.

"Does it support #Signal?" is a common question about #linuxphones.

Good reminder that we still haven't figured out messaging at all and #lockin can easily happen even with solutions that look more free and open at first glance. There are still no good alternatives to Signal's iOS/Android apps.

Apple - censoring things? Never 🤣

I was asked by a relative to use #WhatsApp - and responded with the appropriate comments about Meta, Privacy, Security, Bastards etc. I suggested they use Signal (we do and for work as well). I then wanted to follow it up with a link (and we use #Apple desktops and laptops here backed up by a Linux farm). So I went to the appstore and searched on #Signal - this is what I was given. You need to get the link directly from Signal to find it.
