Tales from the Two Lands<p>This is a piece of one of those busily decorated yellow 21st Dynasty coffins, with every bit of it covered in vignettes and protective symbols. It has no provenance, but it is now in the Ashmolean Museum (or at least it was when I photographed it in 2018).</p><p>The main scene on it shows some ba birds (human headed birds representing one of the parts of a person) pulling a rope attached to a boat. On the boat are several deities standing in a polite little queue facing in the direction the ba birds are pulling them. 🧵 1/3</p><p><a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/egyptology" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>egyptology</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/ancientEgypt" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ancientEgypt</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/coffin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>coffin</span></a></p>
