Sim Barr<p>Anyone remember Annie Haslam and Renaissance? They were a part of my teen years listening to Album Oriented Radio (AOR) ... I would get excited when one of their songs would come on - which was rare because they tended to be 8 minute long art-rock numbers. I listen to her now and think how she paved the way for Kate Bush, Stevie Nicks, even Heart - but her music is largely forgotten. And I just discovered that she is still out there singing and making music ... at 77! <a href="https://c.im/tags/rememberlegends" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>rememberlegends</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/nowplaying" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>nowplaying</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/listenup" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>listenup</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/music" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>music</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/musicworld" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>musicworld</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/mixtape" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>mixtape</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/randomplay" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>randomplay</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/nowhearthis" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>nowhearthis</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/simsongs" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>simsongs</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/anniehaslam" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>anniehaslam</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/renaissance" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>renaissance</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/carpetofthesun" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>carpetofthesun</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/70smusic" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>70smusic</span></a> </p><p><a href="https://youtu.be/rP4ChwweEW4?si=eHTIF2eWKOoIJ1nL" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">youtu.be/rP4ChwweEW4?si=eHTIF2</span><span class="invisible">eWKOoIJ1nL</span></a></p>

The piano introduction is based on the French organ composer Jehan Alain&#39;s &quot;Litanies&quot;. Unusually for a British popular music vocalist, Annie Haslam sings without a trace of an American accent.</p><p>One of the great things about the internet in general and YouTube in particular is the resurfacing of works and genres that were beginning to sink into obscurity. </p><p><a href="https://c.im/tags/Renaissance" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Renaissance</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/ProgressiveRock" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>ProgressiveRock</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/RunningHard" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>RunningHard</span></a><br /><a href="https://c.im/tags/TurnOfTheCards" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>TurnOfTheCards</span></a><br /><a href="https://c.im/tags/AnnieHaslam" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>AnnieHaslam</span></a></p>
