guyjantic has moved!
Reading this article about some really great research done by Sanja Panovska, a German historical/climate (?) scientist. As an Old Curmudgeon there are things about this writing that bother me.

First: What is with the sudden popularity of contractions among zoomers? When I read these in professional communications I suddenly feel like I'm grading a freshman essay.

Second: if the "links" you wasted words on "haven't withstood scientific scrutiny", then THEY AREN'T LINKS. What the fuck are they doing in your article?

Come on. I know you're desperate to drive clicks to your site, but when you lie to do that you kind of make rationality and science cry, and didn't you get into this field to try to prevent that?

Final gripe: "It’s tempting to correlate extinctions with events like the Laschamps excursion when they line up temporally..."

If the events line up temporally, then they are correlated. We don't have to try.

"...But the poles have shifted, weakened, and reversed many times and life is still here and still thriving."

Do people no longer learn things like "non sequitur?" or maybe they don't learn what the word "but" means.

#scicomm #geomagnetism #climatescience #science #badwriting #clickbait

https://www.universetoday.com/166893/41000-years-ago-earths-shield-went-down/
