Carlton CarnivoresNepenthes gracilis, a clone I’ve nicknamed “Shadow.” A widespread and variable species found throughout much of Southeast Asia, typically producing small pitchers on long tangled vines. This one originated from Bornean parentage, and is one of the coveted “black” variants; lower pitchers get deep purple to almost black, spotted with a couple shades of lighter purple that make a dappled shadowy appearance, and even the leaves flush with purple. Carlton CarnivoresMay not look like much unless you’re already familiar with the Rainbow Plants, but this might be one of the rarest species: Byblis pilbarana. Carlton CarnivoresNepenthes leonardoi, a rare ultra-endemic species of pitcher plant from the mountains of Palawan, Philippines. All-black clones seen in the wild made headlines, as did the naming of the plant after a prominent botanist in the region who was unfortunately shot while surveying plants by a militia group.
