Hollywood autocensuraba sus propias películas y despedía a artistas judíos con tal de caerle bien a los nazis y que les permitiera distribuir sus películas en Alemania. Más aún, si una película hollywoodense que contraviniera la ideología nazi se mostraba en cualquier parte del mundo, Alemania aplicaría sanciones contra la industria cinematográfica americana.

Followed Adolphe Menjou from Forbidden to A Woman in Paris, where once again he plays a married man with a kept mistress. Always a bit of a rake.

This time in Chaplin’s silent drama, which didn’t do very well because audiences wanted a Chaplin comedy, and he wanted to expand his range.

It’s a shame he didn’t do more dramas.
