Thomas HuntShown is a 1969 hardcover reprinting of the historic criminal reference work, 1886 Professional Criminals of America, assembled by <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/NYPD?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#NYPD</a> Inspector and Chief of Detectives Thomas Byrnes about a century earlier. <br> <br> The Byrnes book of 1886 contains writeups and mugshot photographs for hundreds of criminals active in the 1880s (though little of interest to the American Mafia historian). It's 400-plus pages also feature discussions of police work and criminal justice, and methods used by criminals. The book includes brief bios of criminals executed at New York City's <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/TombsPrison?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#TombsPrison</a> from 1851 to 1886.<br> <br> The 1969 reprint can be obtained through sellers of used books. A paperback reprint published in 2000 is also available. The original work can be accessed online at the Internet Archive <a href="https://archive.org/details/cu31924096989177" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://archive.org/details/cu31924096989177</a> <br> <br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/CrimeHistory?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#CrimeHistory</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Books?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Books</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/NewYorkCity?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#NewYorkCity</a>
Tom Hunt<p>Arthur Train devoted an entire chapter of his 1922 book to the 1905 <a href="https://vermont.masto.host/tags/Torsiello" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Torsiello</span></a> murder, the investigation by <a href="https://vermont.masto.host/tags/Petrosino" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Petrosino</span></a> and the trial and punishment of Antonio <a href="https://vermont.masto.host/tags/Strollo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Strollo</span></a>.
