LINux on MOBile<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://tooting.ch/@insl" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>insl</span></a></span> Generally yes, but while you can package everything into a .deb, getting it accepted into <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Debian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Debian</span></a> (and I assume similar for <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Devuan" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Devuan</span></a>) is a different thing. There's a reason why the <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/UbuntuTouch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>UbuntuTouch</span></a> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@ubports" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>ubports</span></a></span> people were super happy and proud when they managed to get Lomiri accepted into Debian; and it's that reason why GNOME Shell Mobile is not in <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://fosstodon.org/@mobian" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>mobian</span></a></span> (afaik).</p><p>Maybe Debian/Mobian contributors can chime in here :-)</p>
Da Linux beardude<p>I think it's about time I ditched Arch Linux for Gentoo. Arch has gotten easier and I've gotten bored with it. Once I've settled to Gentoo, I'd have Void Linux scratch my "Arch Linux" itch</p><p>I mean, I've already explored Linux distros with different inits. Maki<p>Could someone tell me why <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Debian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Debian</span></a> decided to roll out systemd-timesyncd even if it sucks at doing the one thing it should be doing? I've killed it and put ntpsec in its place because that actually keeps time synchronised. Add another +1 on the books for systemd-less <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Devuan" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Devuan</span></a> over Debian.</p>
hyperreal<p>So I'm thinking of installing Devuan as an experiment. To see if I can live without systemd. I'm fairly certain most of my activity flow does not have a hard dependency on systemd, but systemd does make some things more convenient.</p><p>My preferred non-systemd init is OpenRC, but I like Dinit and Runit as well. Devuan offers a choice of OpenRC or Runit.
