Alexander Dommerholt<p>There have already been several instances of long queues at the Port of <a href="https://c.im/tags/Dover" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Dover</span></a> due to <a href="https://c.im/tags/Brexit" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Brexit</span></a> </p><p>But prepare for it to get much worse.</p><p>The full <a href="https://c.im/tags/OvenReadyDeal" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>OvenReadyDeal</span></a> hasn&#39;t been implemented yet. Once that happens, the following will happen for Britons looking to enter the <a href="https://c.im/tags/EU" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>EU</span></a> :</p><p>- Every Briton crossing into <a href="https://c.im/tags/Europe" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Europe</span></a> will require a <a href="https://c.im/tags/ESTA" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>ESTA</span></a> type visa called <a href="https://c.im/tags/ETIAS" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>ETIAS</span></a> at a cost of €7 per person.<br />- Every Briton crossing into the EU will need to have their <a href="https://c.im/tags/fingerprints" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>fingerprints</span></a> taken<br />- Also, they&#39;ll need to have a <a href="https://c.im/tags/biometric" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>biometric</span></a> face scan made</p><p>All this will cause longer checks at the border. How much longer, we don&#39;t know. The Port of Dover CEO has said checks for a car containing 4 people could be up to 10 minutes. </p><p>All EU member states have similarly voiced the expectation that checks will take much longer. This will mean longer queues and longer waiting times.</p><p>When these rules will be implemented, we don&#39;t know yet. It has already been postponed twice, but the plan is now for it to be introduced around November.</p><p>After this, expect <a href="https://c.im/tags/chaos" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>chaos</span></a> at the borders and outrage from <a href="https://c.im/tags/Brexiteers" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Brexiteers</span></a> , but when that happens it is important to remember that this has been negotiated by <a href="https://c.im/tags/Boris" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Boris</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/Johnson" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Johnson</span></a> and his government. </p><p>Not much has been said about it in the press as of yet and expect it to be spun by the tabloids as &#39;punishment from the EU&#39;. But is isn&#39;t. </p><p>Leading Brexiteers have negotiated this, 3.5 years ago.</p>

Britons will also have to pay for an <a href="https://c.im/tags/ESTA" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>ESTA</span></a> type visa. </p><p>This is all part of the deal that <a href="https://c.im/tags/BorisJohnson" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>BorisJohnson</span></a> made with the EU.</p><p>So, not just the elaborate checking and stamping of <a href="https://c.im/tags/passports" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>passports</span></a> anymore.
