Cenotes also are prevalent around the rim of the Yucatán's Chicxulub crater, responsible for the K-Pg extinction that killed the non-avian dinosaurs. Somehow the buried crater rim influenced groundwater erosion of the younger limestone above. They're very beautiful!

There's two interesting things going on here: First are the flowers of Eriogonum umbellatum (sulphurflower buckwheat). The second are the clear glacial striations on the rock face dating the ice ages of the Pleistocene Epoch.
