Gina<p>Red Beard Lichen (Usnea rubicunda), like other Usnea species, has an elastic inner cord you can feel by gently tugging its "branches." Tim Stanton<p>Beauty was abound when I snowshoed up a mountain earlier this week. While the views at the summit of nearby mountain peaks/valleys were beautiful, so were the small features at my feet. Check out the rime ice that formed on the boulders. Carolannie<p>Walking on aged concrete sidewalks in the area, I keep seeing these whitish splotches. I noticed after the snow, when wet, the splotches had relief to them. Lichens! Patches of small, pale green lichens. (Peltula spp? ID help?)
