Samedi dernier 22 mars 2025, le rabbin Arié Engelberg a subi une agression violente par un mineur, alors qu’il quittait la synagogue d’Orléans et était accompagné de son jeune fils. Les images vidéo et les témoignages des personnes qui sont intervenues pour les protéger ne laissent aucun doute sur le motif de cette violence insupportable. C’est parce qu’ils sont juifs qu’ils ont été ciblés et filmés. C’est parce qu’il est juif que le rabbin a été mordu et frappé. Les violences physiques, morales et sexuelles se succèdent et s’accumulent contre les juives et juifs de France. Depuis l’assassinat d’Ilan Halimi en 2006, les condamnations, déclarations politiques, tribunes, manifestations et rassemblements, s’ils sont nécessaires, ne suffisent plus à endiguer une litanie d’actes, d’images et de discours mortifères. L’antisémitisme est une plaie béante de l’histoire de France. Quand une personne est agressée en raison de son origine ou de sa confession, c’est toute la République qui est frappée en tant que République. Le principe intangible de ce combat existentiel est celui de l’indivisibilité absolue de la lutte contre tous les racismes et l’antisémitisme. Récemment, des mosquées ont été incendiées, comme à Jargeau, après de nombreuses autres attaques de ce genre. Ce sont des atteintes graves aux droits et à la sécurité de celles et ceux qui sont ainsi victimes de racisme contre les musulman-ne-s. Des agressions racistes vont jusqu’à la mort, comme dans le cas du meurtre de Djamel Bendjaballah, assassiné à Dunkerque le 31 août 2024 sous les yeux de sa fille par un membre d’une milice d’extrême droite, qui avait proféré auparavant des injures racistes et des menaces de mort. Nous connaissons les promoteurs des divisions entre les luttes contre les racismes, présents et actifs dans de nombreux secteurs et y compris à des postes clés du gouvernement actuel : ce sont ceux qui ont de tout temps porté et continuent de porter l’idée de l’inégalité entre toutes et tous, ceux qui font le projet de séparer les êtres et les communautés en fonction de leurs identités cultuelles, culturelles et d’origine, ceux qui ont en horreur le principe de « fraternité » qui a forgé le pacte républicain, la promesse universelle humaniste et l’idéal démocratique. Nous connaissons leurs méthodes. Elles consistent désormais à fracturer notre commune humanité et à nous opposer en instrumentalisant les sensibilités des identités culturelles ou confessionnelles. Nous, associations antiracistes qui avons mené, à chaque moment de bascule de la République, ce combat existentiel, soutenons la marche qui partira de la synagogue d’Orléans le mardi 25 mars 2025, à 18 heures. Nous nous engageons à réunir des Assises de la lutte contre les racismes et l’antisémitisme afin de mettre en oeuvre tous les moyens visant à faire cesser ces discours et actes politiques qui en sont les moteurs. Agir avec conviction, sans délai et indivisiblement contre tous les racismes et l’antisémitisme est la condition absolue du maintien de notre modèle républicain, laïque et démocratique.
