I’ve had this #meshtastic radio for nearly a year now. I’ve only connected to a few people where I live but just in the last month I’ve connected to four local radios that weren’t just cars passing through. This project is really taking off.

I haven’t brought a #meshtastic node with me to the city in a while. I got almost all of these nodes and dozens not on the map from Staten Island. This includes four Boroughs and New Jersey. All from one spot. When I was there six months ago from the same spot I could get maybe half a dozen nodes. This project is really taking off.
It’s very hard to hit the Bronx because Manhattan is a black hole and getting from southern Brooklyn through queens to the boogie down will be a Warriors like journey

Welcome to the family!

If have chosen a RasperryPi Zero 2 W for this project because I am running a Meshtastic <-> Matrix Relay on it.

So I can put it in a remote location (city, somewhere inside), connect it to the WiFi and still participate in the great Meshtastic chat in that area 🙂

My wife who was normally at best tolerant of my tinkering with radios asked me about #meshtastic yesterday. Apparently she's becoming more interested in #shtf options for communications, and we spent some time talking about the radios I have and how they could be used in emergencies. I'm pondering writing up an overview/beginner guide to types of radio and how they can be used. Does anyone have a reference they like? Would people be interested?
