Wintergreen berries in snow
(Gaultheria procumbens)
Edible berries, flavoring is used for toothpaste amongst other products.
@jblue I am so envious! For three years I have tried to grow similar plants so I can have the view during my winter, but no, my plants always die. Maybe in the after life.
@Blanco yeah mine died last year and I got a new one. My original came from Lowe’s and they probably sourced the plant from a northern grower’s climate since it was sold as a Christmas plant.
The one I bought this year came from a local garden store which sources from nurseries that grow further south. So I’m hoping that these ones are landraced for hotter summer climates. It’s supposed to be native where I live.
@jblue Yes. I try to play that game. I buy from a local nursery that specializes in plants for my region. Such is life. Hope yours survive this time.
@Blanco yeah me too
