We have seen what Israel is doing and what Russia is doing. We seen all the dodgy COVID contracts. We see all the billionaire's wealth massively increasing. When the rule of law means nothing, when rich countries with powerful militaries do as they please, when very rich people can win dodgy contracts without ever facing sanction, when nobody in power seems to care about the environment, when we can't believe 99% of what politicians tell us, is all of that really the best we can hope for?

Should we be surprised that BBC Scotland shows flagrant disregard for their own charter and the rules which govern them? Here in Scotland we are well used to their obvious bias, censorship and outright lies.
Should we expect any more? After all they are the BRITISH Broadcasting Corporation. Their focus is on the British state, the Monarchy and in keeping the status quo. It isn't just in Scotland though. They show their bias across the UK every single day. Is BBC News fit for purpose?

As a deaf mum of twins it took me years to get back into the workplace…it was a local council with a policy that offered anyone with a disability who met the essential criteria an interview, that eventually got me back into a regular PAYE job. Until then, I picked up crumbs of work on a self employed basis. Many of us who are disabled resort to working for ourselves, because employers won’t give us a chance…but it’s a very precarious existence.

Sometimes I look around at the UK, and think for years our political class has been 'kicking the can down the road' on so many things....

and now we have reached that pile of cans & they have no real ability to deal with the mess the pile represents.

And as Rachel Reeves stands on the pile of cans, declaring her fiscal rules must be met whatever it entails, the true hopelessness of the future seems all too clear.

[but in the back of my mind I also here the remark; 'OK boomer']

Experts criticise Streeting for saying mental health problems overdiagnosed - The Guardian

apple.news/AF81X9onPQHuEymC3rQ. Let me help. Mental health care within the NHS is all but nonexistent. I know this from personal experience (no, I’m not the patient, and no, I’m not sharing chapter and verse here). In 1983 it was JAM, just about managing, now, to coin a phrase, it’s fucked. That’s what these pink Tories should be concentrating on. They won’t though, Streeting has had his dosh.

There's another and perhaps more insidious angle to consider, a potential parallel motive for an engineered recession: the fact that recessions create prime opportunities for oligarchs to amass more assets. During recessions and depressions, equity asset prices, particularly in real estate and businesses, decline significantly. While the majority of the population lacks the capital or liquidity to capitalize on these reduced prices, the top 1% possess the resources to acquire these undervalued assets. Consequently, when the economy recovers, oligarchs emerge with an even greater share of overall wealth.

PSA for those caring for older relatives.

Urinary tract infections are especially common among older adults, regardless of gender. The first outward sign of a UTI is dementia. So if your relative who is normally lucid starts to ramble more than usual, that could be it. I and multiple friends all learned this the hard way. Now you don't have to.

If anyone, anyone at all (?) was confused, the speaker has his nose well into the trough, a man who disregards parliamentary conventions (pretty much all they have In the place of rules) to suit whoever is in power.
