Jake in the desert

Missed the anniversary of this one the other day. On March 28 (in the USA) and March 30 (in the UK) in 1973, my favorite Led Zeppelin record, Houses of the Holy, was released. This is Zep's fifth record, and it flows so well as a whole piece. SO MANY epic tunes on this one, from Dancing Days to The Rain Song and No Quarter.

@jake4480 I enjoyed playing No Quarter on my Rhodes piano.

@jake4480 Great record. This might be my favorite as well. For a long time, it was III, but I find myself spinning this one most often these days...

@wendigo right?? I mean I dig stuff on all of em. But all the way through, gimme Houses. It almost made the records that made me post, but I left it off

@jake4480 It is consistently good. Pretty hard choice for me because I like them all a lot. Probably heard IV too much, though...

While never being a huge Zep fan, I can say this is my favourite, too. Oddly enough - and this no doubt sounds like sacrilege to most Zep fans - I really like the fact that it's way less blues-y and way more funky than their previous four efforts. I mean, The Crunge! Whoa! (Still never a Robert Plant fan, though).

@blankfrank 😂🤣 all of this. Hell, my best friend growing up hated Plants voice, could never do Zep. I can do other songs from other Zep albums but this is really the only one of theirs I can do fully.
