One of the cats at the monastery - whom I've named "Bernie Biscuits" - is quite obviously sick, and out of compassion, I'm going to get some de-worming pills for all of them (about 6 ). These pills are for sale on the open market here in .

Bhante Subharo

I've got the de-worming pills, and once crushed up and mixed into some pork fat, Bernie Biscuits just wouldn't eat it. But an Orange tomcat (whom I've named "Rascal"), who's far too skinny looking - for how much cat kibble gets eaten here at the monastery - was willing to eat it. His stomach began making these sickly convulsions as soon as he swallowed it.

While he ate the medicine, I have to admit there was a certain joy in doing a good turn for others.

Convincing the other cats to eat the pills will take some time.

After consulting with a cook here, asking what the cats like to eat, he gave me a couple packets of Whiskas. It's soupy texture was perfect for mixing the crushed-up pills into a drug slurry, which 2 cats inhaled immediately: Bernie Biscuits, and Tortellini (the 2 tortie cats here).

Update: Bernie Biscuits is definitely looking better today, and was considerably more energetic. Her eyes were swollen almost totally shut earlier, now they've returned to normal.

@sbb

Do you have profender in Malaysia? It's a spot-on wormer which you squirt on the back of the neck.

@Badgardener To de-worm the cats whatsoever is a really progressive idea here in , at least in these parts. Nobody in this monastery has ever seen such a de-worming pill in their lives, it seems. The pills were not cheap. I'll use them up first. But thanks for the suggestion. Yes, that product you mention was listed on an Amazon-like site here called Shopee.
