Home Depot, Lowes and even Rona are all US owned companies (Rona used to be Canadian but was bought out). To buy Canadian, look at #HomeHardware, local building supply places, independent locally owned hardware stores and #CanadianTire.
While the US-owned stores employ a lot of people, bigger demand in Canadian-owned placed means they'll have a chance to expand -- and hire more people. Not overnight, but if demand shifts it would happen.
Then, look to see where products come from. A lot of stuff isn't made in Canada, but the US isn't the only place that makes these things.
@AskPippa Can confirm. I live just three blocks from the Home Hardware World Domination Headquarters. Lots of Canadian jobs there.
@AskPippa local grocery store has already tagged everything Canadian.
Kind of wish they’d tag stuff as American, too. This Mexican produce didn’t start any beef.
@AskPippa It is interesting, when the USA tariffs on Canada were announced, Australian industry panicked, because of the thinking that Canada would threaten Australia's trade portion in Asia.
@maize I’m looking at buying a multi cooker. Most are from US companies. The one I’m currently considering is Australian!
