I have the god-given persistence of a damn anime protagonist and that's the only way I have gotten this far getting this damn TrueNAS NAS useful.
After a week of searching questions on forums, half of them look like some form of:
"I'm newish to network management. How do I get this [app/storage/feature] working?"
"Why do you want that? It's not best practice. You should Xilp++ instead"
"So if I Xilp I can get this working?"
"Yes. Xilp++. Ignore anyone who mentions classic Xilp. They're heathens who will burn."
"How do I Xilp? What is Xilp?"
"Xilp++, heathen"
"How do I Xilp++? I just want [app/storage/feature]"
"I can't explain everything for you. Do your own investigation."
Most threads never make it to the end but boy do a bunch of them start like that.
No, ladies, gents, and other folx, I acknoweldge that I can do a lot. I'm stupid AF about this stuff though.
But I am #ActuallyADHD and by God I'm gonna #hyperfocus my way towards a functional home built NAS or I'm gonna self immolate and fly through the sky like the goddam Human Torch,
Today I got SyncThing working. Writing notes to myself now about how to keep it working/expand it in the future.
Tomorrow? Plex.
After that? No. Don't talk to me.
