Question for anyone who still thinks Musk is improving government efficiency and saving taxpayer dollars:
How much would it cost to pay a bad mechanic to tear things out of your engine until it stops working?
Now, how much would it cost to pay a good mechanic to repair that engine until it was working again?
@msbellows Ah, there's always the Sinclair school of production engineering. Most people who build electronics will:
1. build a prototype
2. take components out until it stops working (y'know, little capacitors, that sort of thing)
3. put the last one back in so that it starts working again
4. manufacture and ship it.
It was widely rumoured in #Cambridge in the 1980s that Sinclair omitted stage 3.
