@fkamiah17 and from what I've seen of Dover I'm surprised anyone arriving there from abroad doesn't turn right round and go live in France or somewhere.

Deal used to be quite uppity middle class but I've not been there for more than 30 years. Doesn't stop it being gammon central, obvs.
@fkamiah17 spent time by accident in both Dover and Folkestone. Arrived Dover a few hours early for the ferry and had to kick our heels. And worst in Folkestone two days early (don't ask). All our money saved a tenner already changed to Czech. Had to hang around without usable money.
Still, these are the things that make for memories - and travellers tales.
@capnthommo OMG Folkestone is a horror show. At least in Dover you can go to the castle or summat.
@fkamiah17 it was, to boot, on the day when the queen mother died. The fairground was open though. But the lights were subdued and they were playing funereal music instead of pop over the pa system. It was like a fairground from a weird movie. Something Wicked This Way Comes.
