(Article in Polish) In March 2009, Maciej “groobo” Maselewski, via the Speed Demos Archive, (claimed to) have beaten the original Diablo in 3 minutes and 12 seconds. After analysis, it turns out that there are 2.2 billion possible variants of maps in the game, a tool was created to analyze them, and it proved this record fake (it's still listed in the Guinness Book for fastest rpg completion).
@jake4480 I haven't delved into the game like you have, but it doesn't seem possible to me to beat it that fast...
@wendigo that's the first one and despite me beating it twice now, 3:12, no way. Even someone REALLY beyond good at it. I've gotten better at it but it takes time to level, etc. at least in my experience. Hours and hours.
@jake4480 That's what I would have thought as well. There's actual mechanics that would prevent you...
@wendigo I've seen some crazy speedrunning of platformers like Mario etc and some other things, but 3:12 in Diablo.. That's not even long enough for me to like, make a sandwich hahaha
