Amazing one for #MusicWomenWednesday. Japanese-Canadian singer/songwriter Saya Gray put out her magical debut album 'Saya' last Friday. Folk, alt-pop + rock sensibilities, synthy electronica & heavier guitar sometimes too. Saya's voice and finger picking- wow. Unique melodies and sounds. A contender.
Bonus #MusicWomenWednesday this week, as I stumbled across this NPR Tiny Desk Concert that Saya Gray did. This fuzz bass, the backing singers, just all of it. She's a talent to watch and I mentioned it before (above) but her new album is incredible. This is the first song on it.

@jake4480 Still can't get Puddle out of my head. Great album.
@Rob right?? The first track has been in my head for days, ever since basically. And then there are three others on it that I'd heard as a promo, and even the last song on the album is one of the best songs on it (who can say THAT??) and I love how it kinda degenerates and fades out. Whew. Magical.
@Rob I was kinda wondering after I liked all three of those promo tracks.. I was like.. this one might be INCREDIBLE
@jake4480 Yeah, the first song was also one that stood out, but as you say there's bits of magic throughout. To the very end. Nice find.
@Rob oh man I just stumbled across this NPR tiny desk concert Saya did. THE FUZZ BASS ffffff
@jake4480 Lovely. I remember when you first tipped me off to her, watching a clip and seeing she was playing bass as well.
@jake4480 Great album....!!!
@chrisggarrod it REALLY is!! Just amazing. I'd heard 3 promo songs before it came out and liked them all, I wondered if it would be great and sure enough. Wow. From the first track to the last.
Man, her QWERTY EP was fantastic, @jake4480!
@jake4480 Just as an aside, my favorite part of these tiny desk concerts is just admiring the beautiful clutter of the NPR office. This is an office I would really enjoy going into every day. Packed with books and chotchkees and signed whoosits. All the offices in my career no one bothered to personalize anything because no one would be there very long.
@rtw totally! Gotta love all that clutter heheheh
