The Eagles are one of those bands I feel like they have several different kinds of songs, maybe there's something different for everyone. I mean, they're one of the biggest rock bands ever for a reason, and despite what the Dude says, I dig both the Eagles AND Creedence haha. These are my favorite 8 Eagles songs, the ones I play when I hit em up.
Take it Easy
One of These Nights
Take It to the Limit
Life in the Fast Lane
Heartache Tonight
The Long Run
In the City
Those Shoes
And I threw all 8 on my 'Essential' Eagles playlist here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLUo1OYrFf_Nq36gIgYSYrvG4QZcEVhgXf
@jake4480 CCR Yes, Eagles No.
@fistfulofdave hahaha well, I do like Creedence way more than the Eagles. These are the only 8 songs I wanna hear. None of the others. No albums. Even Creedence, no full albums for me. Strangely, I don't have a playlist for them. I'm pretty sure I really dig more than 8 Creedence songs though haha
@fistfulofdave yep, just counted. 15 Creedence. Maybe 16. Like, double. hahaha
@jake4480 I have a couple of friends who HATE the Eagles. However, I'll admit they wrote very good pop songs (basically). I have their SACDs, but I'm generally not one to just pop them on. Every now and then, I grow reminiscent for their sound (especially with Joe Walsh)...
@wendigo ha! I figured. Yeah, the last couple on this list where they were getting really weird and electric and keyboardy, man, I just love that crap. I dig some of Don's solo stuff too, Boys of Summer obviously but also Dirty Laundry, Sunset Grill and All She Wants to Do is Dance. How fucking cool are THOSE songs haha
@jake4480 Henley is a different story. I really like some of his solo albums, the songs you speak of...
@jake4480 The Eagles are one of those bands I feel like they have several different kinds of songs... and every single kind is mediocre.
@jake4480 (Massive massive safetywink)
(...really though, my tastes are pretty catholic and I cannot abide The Eagles)
@bendaubney my tastes are strange and ridiculous and sometimes probably bordering on the perverse, but I'm just glad we're friends. hahaha
@bendaubney hahahah oh man. People are so divided on it. I mean.. One of These Nights, musically, is fairly impressive haha. Some people love that Hotel California, I could do without ever hearing that again. I don't like Witchy Woman really or Desperado, etc. Lots of theirs I don't dig. Just these 8. hahaha
@jake4480 My parents were huge huge fans of The Eagles, more even than The Beatles. In fact way more. So they're core to my childhood. I cannot listen to most of the songs. Not because I don't like them, but because of the exposure.
Don Henley was also a huge musical influence on my parents along with Joe Walsh.
@rtw hahahaha oh man. Yeah, my folks dug em. I definitely heard some that way. I don't wanna hear Hotel California or Desperado or any of the other ones. Just those 8. Because I found em later kinda, they VERY rarely play Those Shoes or In the City on the radio. I dig a bunch of Beatles too obviously, the only one I can really do fully now is Rubber Soul haha. There's songs on on all the others I dig though.
