@xmpp Embrace, Extend, Extinguish. That's the predictable strategy all big corps will take: to use Open Standards as a ladder they can climb up, to popularity and profit. Then kick the ladder out from under them. Gullibility in this regard will only set back Open Standards for a very long time. should have pretty much taken over the world by now, but was passed over time and again by the likes of Meta and Google/Alphabet, who usurped it, then betrayed it.

@thevril @sbb @xmpp I have many opinions on Google's strategy, or lack thereof. They have had at least 15 (yes, I counted) different chat platforms over the years. If their goal is to extinguish, then I hope they succeed in getting rid of RCS once and for all.
