Building the latest version of samba from source on my Raspberry Pi 5 because whenever I access my share from iPhone or iPad - even though I log in as a registered user - I only have read access.
On a Mac in Finder everything works perfectly well - just like on other Linux/Windows systems.
Hopefully newer SMB version will help.
Or if you guys know what might be the reason - help is greatly appreciated .
@Ann_Effes @in_sympathy I too needed those hints. The #samba "fruit" module was very helpful, as i have an #iPad with #iPadOS 18.
Glad I could help. I initially thought it was some SMB version stuff because earlier iOS versions didn't support SMB 3.11 but only 3.02, but the Mac did ... or something, I forgot the details. But that is solved in iOS now and was not the cause... had to search a little too.
@Ann_Effes @in_sympathy Thank you!
@Ann_Effes @in_sympathy maybe there should be an #AI whose sole job is to configure #samba, is it's so complex to understand all the possible configuration options.
I think this is one of those examples where the problem is too complex to be handled by an AI.
;-)
@Ann_Effes @in_sympathy if there is "vibe coding", surely "vibe-configuring" should be much simpler, right?
True, but then again:
1. Is there functional Vibe-Coding?
2.“Simpler” as an attribute for a product that originated at Microsoft.... I don't know. Is that even a logically sound sentence?
@sbb @Ann_Effes well I wasted an hour trying to solve it with chat gpt, failed, posted this thread and you helped me to get it fixed
