Das BASE hat den gesetzlichen Auftrag, technologische entwicklungen zu beobachten und zu bewerten. Hierbei sind Sicherheit und Machbarkeit zentrale Kriterien. Das BASE hat sich intensiv und fachlich mit der Transmutex-Studie befasst. Aus unserer Sicht bleiben bei diesem jüngsten Vorhaben viele offene Fragen, aber eine Gewissheit: An einem sicheren tiefengeologischen Endlager für hochradioaktive Abfälle geht kein Weg vorbei.
