I love #silence . When out here in my #Дача days can go by without me speaking to anyone. #noradio , no music, no phone calls. I don't like phone calls. I like #communication though and there are days when I need to have hours of #queen or #johannsebastianbach blasting through me and I am not be disturbed then. But more often I need silence. Rare to achieve elsewhere. Bliss here. Stay safe everyone!

“Schau, Lieber Gott, Wie Meine Feind BWV 15” (youtu.be/zcZMRhLXMvk?si=ch0eh6) is a religious cantata that Bach composed and the Sunday after New Year’s Day. It’s based on various biblical stories: The First Epistle of Peter, The Gospel of Matthew, King Herod’s Massacre, etc. Despite being approximately 15mins long it’s got 9 movements and most of them are arias (??) Suite No. 3 in D major, BWW 1068 (youtu.be/oqU4rF_ysQo?si=-qWJkS) Is one of 4 orchestral suites that Bach composed around the mid 1720s-early 1730s. It’s written in the French style of overtures that had become popular in German Baroque music at the time. This 3rd Suite is one of the older orchestral suites of the 4. Fans of German violinist August Wilhelmj will know this piece as being the basis of “Air on the G String".

Next we have “Magnificat, BWV 2438: Anima Mea Dominum” (youtu.be/3qdhkTePLhc?si=7Dr_5x) a biblical canticle that is considered the first major Latin text based composition by Bach. It was heavily inspired by J.S. Bach’s work as a music director in Leipzig, Germany as a young man. This portion is based on The Gospel of Luke. Overall the piece is known for its precise musical symmetry. A score is available here (imslp.org/wiki/Magnificat_in_D)
