The initial fifteen or twenty yards to the gravel bar was almost anticlimactic. Monissa<p>In another place, I'm doing a thread of islands I've visited, because it fits my username. One photo every day or so. But sometimes an extra photo slips in that I can't use (because one photo per island) so I'll have to share it here.</p><p>St Tredwell's Loch, on Papa Westray, one of the smaller islands of Orkney. I don't know why a lake on an island seems so odd, but it does. Maybe because of how close it is to the sea. (You might be able to see the strip of blue sea behind the loch.)</p><p>Photo is taken from St Tredwell's Chapel, the ruins of a Medieval chapel built over Iron Age remains, or an overgrown bunch of rocks on a hill. Guyroscope<p>Another cracking day in <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/Cumbria" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Cumbria</span></a>. Pasties from Chester's by the River at Skelwith Bridge followed by a gentle stroll up the river to Elterwater with dippers and goosander then looping back via Loughrigg Tarn.</p><p>Not the longest or most strenuous walk in the world but the <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/Lakes" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Lakes</span></a> was at it's best so enjoyable none the less.</p>

Sitting on a lake edge drinking box wine with Joan Armitrading on the CD player is not too bad. There were 100 sheep to welcome us when we arrived. Mushrooms in the paddock next door the farmer offered us to pick. Might go well with local butcher's herb and garlic sausages I bought on the way.
This lake is home to Owaka Yacht Club, Lake Catlins. Would be a great sight to see on a club day.
