It is unclear whether Gen #CQBrown will get a portrait of his 1 year & 4 months as the #JointChiefs chair. Trump has not publicly criticized Gen Brown, whom he is seeking to replace w/the retired 3-star Lt. Gen. Dan Caine, another fighter pilot.
The two were already at odds over #Trump’s desire to use the #InsurrectionAct to deploy active duty #troops to rein in the protesters, a move that Gen #Milley & then #Defense Secy Mark Esper had vehemently opposed.
Trump would never trust either man again.
Trump would later fire Esper (by tweet). As for Gen Milley, Trump would eventually suggest he should be put to death.
Days after #GeorgeFloyd’s murder, Gen. #Milley, wearing his Army fatigues, accompanied #Trump in a walk across Lafayette Square near the White House for a photo op after an *aggressive* [brutal] clearing of a peaceful #demonstration. Milley was widely criticized for allowing Trump to drag him into #politics.
Milley publicly apologized, saying, “I should not have been there.”
Trump was furious. “Why’d you do that?” he asked Milley, per Trump ofcls at the time.

#us Mastodon, if you know #military members, now is the time to start talking about opposing dictators, especially internally. #trump is going to remove the power of the #judiciary , he owns local cops already, and he has legislative. It’s going to take a general like #milley , whose picture he removed for that reason, to stand up to the administration which refuses normalcy and law. Shore up that conviction from the enlisted on up. If the military backs Trump, the people lose.
"New U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, in one of his first acts in the job since being appointed by President Donald Trump, has revoked the personal security detail and security clearance for Mark Milley, the retired Army general and former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Milley, who served as the top U.S. military officer during some of Trump's first presidential term, became a leading critic of him after retiring as a four-star general in 2023 during former President Joe Biden's administration and has faced death threats. Milley will also face an inquiry by the Pentagon inspector general's office into his conduct that could lead to him being bumped down in rank.

The moves to punish Milley, which also include removal of his two portraits in the Pentagon, came as the Pentagon mobilizes to support Trump's immigration crackdown and to conform to his conservative revamp of policies on personnel.
