SubstackSimon Campbell on SubstackI woke this morning with a light heart and tranquil mind. It’s so good to be playing and creating again. Thursdays are great as this when we hold our regular Vibrationists rehearsal—the new live music and multimedia project with @Suzy Starlite, @Dave Boyd and myself. Dave normally arrives at the Supertone Sonic Laboratory around noon and after setting up, we normally kick off playing the trickiest stuff from our ever-expanding set list. It’s very interesting as we are reimagining our existing material for the three-piece format incorporating new instrumentation. Yesterday saw the first appearance of Dave’s BOSS monster looper pedal which really made a great contribution to the soundscape. Starlite is also really pushing the boundaries of her pedalboard and is making some very cool noises. We always have a relaxed lunch which is a great time to discuss in words what we don’t say in the music. Yesterday was Starlite's special salad with Halloumi and my version of tabbouli. As ever I am wrestling with the number of instruments I need to deliver a smooth live performance. Currently, the Springer Firehawk, Fender Nocaster and Gretsch G6120-1960 Nashville electrics will be making an appearance plus the Collings D2H and Fylde custom 6 and 12 strings acoustics. That’s six fucking guitars and I may need more. The big issue I have is during the set I use five-six tunings, ranging from a very interesting Csus right through to standard. Guitars don’t like to be quickly pulled all the way up from C and back down again—especially in this climate which plays havoc with acoustic instruments—so it’s best if you have dedicated guitars for dedicated tunings. It wouldn’t be so bad if we could program the songs that would best suit the tunings, but live sets don’t work that way as the song order is paramount to a successful gig. All I can say, it’s a good job we have the mighty Van Of Rock. ////// We have been gradually adding stuff to our website and now have a good summary of what we are all about - take a look. ////// Warning | guitar porn. The picture below was taken by Michael Springer at his workshop before I took delivery of this great Firehawk. Wonderful instrument.

I missed #MusiciansDay - so a day late here is my new release called "Painkiller".

The basics of this track were recorded from my hospital bed while recovering from major surgery. At the time I was on a cocktail of painkillers - hence the title. The track reflects my mental state at the time, coming in and out of consciousness.

There is one major theme that runs through the track - I couldn't get this out of my head - but it's fed through a variety of effects and distortion.

I had to do some mastering on the track as it was a bit of a sonic mess but hey what do you expect being high on painkillers?

What you hear is an OPZ providing the base track and Glo providing all the effects and distortion, recorded onto a Zoom H1 recorder - as I said all from the hospital bed.

Next up for #MusiciansDay is Nappy Nina. A goddess of lyricism, the Oakland born, Brooklyn backed MC’s articulate storytelling and rhyme schemes will hold every bit of your attention. Jazz influences with traces of boombap. This is that REAL Hip Hop.

Just finished a quarterly report, and I was able to bring an estimated 20 million + views to this project. Listed as top #HipHop albums of 2024 several times. Placements in two commercials. Some of my best work.

#MusiciansDay: Hi. I’m Ericka. I am a leading A&R + Media rep for Stimulated records at Roc Nation Distribution. I’d be honored if you take a listen to some of the music I’ve been working on.

First off: Dono Dono.

Donovan Duvall, a gifted, multi instrumental, gender neutral musician released his first project, “PROM”, and it is a Synthpop and indie rock pop favorite. We are 800 plays from his 1st 10K single, “Tears Have Run” on Spotify. Give it a play or two! Or 5.

Sup, I'm Kai.
I make music inspired mainly by the things I love.
What are those, you ask?
It's mainly VGM (Video Game Music), Rhythm Game music, and other high paced, complex genres, such as IDM and most of the "-core" genres.
I do mainly make to learn, though, so I'm always experimenting and trying new things! (i just made a microtonal track recently :WOWZA: )
Here's some of my most polished stuff as of late!

I can be found here, on my soundcloud ( soundcloud.com/kaiiak04 ) or at my spotify! ( open.spotify.com/artist/4pVZwS )

(and yes, this is an amongus song. No, I don't take my content too seriously at the moment. It isn't a job for me yet so why not have some fun?)

Today is #MusiciansDay :mastodance:

A brief #introduction : I am a composer and improviser whose instruments are the piano and the computer. My work has been described as "a hyper-productive, dizzying panoply of music" by Positionen, a music journal based in Berlin.

I am a proponent of self-releasing, and maintain profiles across various platforms.

Turns out I joined fedi at a convenient time because today is #MusiciansDay

I make #experimental #soundscapes. And up to this point, nobody outside of a few close friends have heard any of it. It would mean a lot to me if you'd check it out.

Headphones / a good stereo is HIGHLY recommended. The stereo field is really important to my music.

There's two songs up at the moment. But I've got a third that is almost finished. Follow me for updates on that release!
