See how Starmer doesn't answer the question but makes a sly colonial dig at Scotland instead.
Know your place Scots, you can't look after yourselves, and would it hurt you to be grateful to your English overlords? Such a miserable race..../s
"a significant number of female MSPs in the Scottish National party are stepping down before the May 2026 elections, citing lack of support from the party, tolerance of bullying, and abuse in the chamber and online"
Good 5 miles into the #SNP this morning. Life’s getting into a groove as spring is starting to creep up the mountain. Started off with a great blue heron in the hollow, some early flowers pushing up near a creek, and a robin at the turn around.
I'm getting more disillusioned by #Labour on an almost daily basis. I've never been a member but have consistently voted for them, I was a paying supporter during Corbyn's leadership.
Realistically though with our FPTP electoral system not voting Labour in my *constituency would be a vote for the #Conservative or #UKreform parties both of which I totally abhor. On the left I like the Green Party but their local support is woefully poor. I also like a lot of what the #SNP stands for but they're not on an option South of the border.
All of which makes Labour my least worst option under FPTP.
I suppose that a transferable vote might be a solution but the different variants are a minefield.
Does anyone else have a similar quandary? Also what would your solution be?

The Patriarchy doesn't want Women in Politics and this is how it does that.
Anonymous death threats from one end and a lack of support from the other.
Is this how a Democracy should operate?
@MadeyeTheCarnaptious @HarriettMB Of course it does - I was forgetting. The #snp can do no wrong in your eyes, can it?
@HarriettMB @MadeyeTheCarnaptious Thanks for that. There are that many TERFs in the #snp? Good riddance to them, then!
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2025/mar/23/snp-female-msps-women-stepping-down-elections-holyrood-scotland. There is something rotten in the state of the #snp if this is the case, @MadeyeTheCarnaptious, or is this report just the "biased English media" again? What's your view, @HarriettMB?
Nicola Sturgeon, the SNP and Branchform
A measured assessment (but that will not satisfy the haters and given the comments it has not)
Unionists are desperate to cripple any talk of independence and will do what it takes.
@russellt They will only succeed in completely alienating progressive voters. If they imagine we've got nowhere else to go - they've got another think coming! Those of us who live in England will vote Green; you Scots will vote #snp or for the @ScottishGreens.
“Dismay in Labour ranks as popularity plummets”, but why the surprise? Lies were told. People voted against Tory policies, Labour vaguely promised undefined change, and now they’re intensifying Toryism instead. Those “fiscal rules” are an invention. Try Keynesian economics once again. It’s not a “difficult decision”, really it’s not.
Oh, by the way, #SNP and #Scottishindependence for this house.
@RichardJMurphy Maybe it took that betrayal and bunch of lies told by Labour to waken people up to where there true path to independence lies - though how anyone voted Labour after Starmer’s ‘I’m a Unionist’ comment astonishes me.
Also, now voters can clearly see the arrest, and drawn out £2 million+ spent investigating the completely exonerated Nichola Sturgeon over £600K was a hatchet job.
Just in case anyone ever needs reminding England always was and always will be #PerfidiousAlbion. #SNP #ScottishIndependence
Businesses back SNP for growth
Colour me amazed. The Times reports something vaguely positive about the Scottish government. Although I suspect this was simply necessary to critique #Starmer, #Sarwar and #Labour.
Having said that, businesses that favour ‘Reform’ as a party for growth are either deluded or taking the piss. So the survey is probably useless.
Meantime this has driven the haters mad in the comments.
@MadeyeTheCarnaptious I hope she can sue them for the harassment, the damage to her career, the stress, the breakup of her marriage, etc - years of this costing the taxpayers many millions, over £600k. And they still have got charges and/or a court case. Whatever they may have is hopefully not enough so the case loses in court anyway. There’s no way it takes all that time for a forensic accountant to prove the police assertion. This is nothing more than a political charge to damage aspirations for Scottish Independence. The #SNP needs its mojo back pdq: particularly in light of how #Labour have betrayed everyone.
"I have done nothing wrong, and I don't think there was ever a scrap of evidence that I had done anything wrong."
What next for the #SNP? Moving out from under the shadow of a police investigation
The news Nicola Sturgeon will face no further action under Operation Branchform offers a chance for the SNP to move on.
