Made a couple of hexiflats including handspun ones. Made some progress on the washcloth for my dad (plus giving him an already completed one). The main thing is the regular fiberarts work, which was mostly spinning with the supported spindles but also some spinning on my wheel and some plying. Very little actual knitting. Still happy with progress! <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/knitting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>knitting</span></a> <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/spinning" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>spinning</span></a> <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/handspun" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>handspun</span></a> <a href="https://wandering.shop/@consumablejoy/113756208408207812" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">wandering.shop/@consumablejoy/</span><span class="invisible">113756208408207812</span></a></p>

Fazia Rizvi<p>Hey Mastodon! Is there a mobile app that will allow me to follow hashtags? I use Toot right now but neither that nor checking on the web will let me set a bookmark or add hashtags to a list or just something that I can click everyday day to check <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/weaving" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>weaving</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/naturaldyes" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>naturaldyes</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/spinning" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>spinning</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/kundonta" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>kundonta</span></a> etc. Tips?</p>
Maru<p>Ok. So I bought a second hand Louet S10. It’s old but works fine. Back to 4 <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/spinning" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>spinning</span></a> wheels again. Have to get used to the Irish tension but zig-zagging the yarn around the flyer hooks makes it pretty easy. After spinning on that wheel I spun on the Bliss and my old castle wheel. Also still very nice.</p>

XombieHamster<p>Finished <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/spinning" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>spinning</span></a> the mystery alpaca and plied the multicolored questionably merino this afternoon. I really need to put accurate labels on my fiber more frequently. </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/fiberarts" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>fiberarts</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/handspinning" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>handspinning</span></a></p>
consumableJoy<p>Plying today did not go well. Sometimes I wasn’t getting enough take up to get the yarn to wind on, other times I wasn’t getting enough twist. Sometimes I was slowing the bobbin down with the tension I was putting on the yarn. Sometimes it squeaked and made other weird noises. I experimented with changing the brake band. It might be that or it might be the bobbin I used or it might be that the EEW 6.1 just doesn’t work for me for plying. <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/spinning" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>spinning</span></a> <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/handspinning" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>handspinning</span></a> <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/fiberarts" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>fiberarts</span></a></p>
Vereesh<p>I've been dyeing some new wool using several shades of kool-aid. This is 8 oz of blue-faced Leicester. I doubled the strand of roving, and poured my dye to make a long gradient. Image hidden because it looks like it could be a pan of guts, but it's just wet wool. Very pretty once you know what it is. <a href="https://masto.ai/tags/spinning" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>spinning</span></a> <a href="https://masto.ai/tags/handspinning" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>handspinning</span></a> <a href="https://masto.ai/tags/handmade" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>handmade</span></a> <a href="https://masto.ai/tags/dyeing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dyeing</span></a> <a href="https://masto.ai/tags/Koolaid" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Koolaid</span></a></p>
Maru<p>Had a lovely day today. The <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/spinning" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>spinning</span></a> group meeting was very nice. I bought a spindle and wool combs. Man there could tell me what is wrong with the Bliss. And saw many other wheels. Spinner up all the rolags I carded yesterday. Also knitted so the gusset of the socks is almost done.</p>
Maru<p>And decided to take the Bliss with me. Basically because it keeps breaking down and maybe there’s someone who knows how to fix it. And if not no problem I can sort it out<br><a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/spinning" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>spinning</span></a></p>

Preparing stuff to take with me to the #spinning group thing tomorrow. Blended alpaca and brown wool on the drum carder. Now making little rolls on the hand carders. These rolls will be gone in half an hour I’m afraid haha

Spinning Frigg Vintage Fairytale Pin: A beautiful vintage brass pin of a woman with her distaff and spinning wheel. Pin measures just over 1 3/4" (4.5cm) wide.

Frigg is the Norse Goddess of spinning-- it is said that she spun the clouds and you can see her spinning wheel in the sky as the constellation known as Orion's Belt.

There’s a meeting of the national #spinning group I recently joined. I have no idea what to expect. But I’m going to card some fleece tomorrow. And decide what wheel to take with me. I think one of my 2 old wheels…
If there’s anyone with experience with LSG alv’s, please some advice…

I’m done with 4/6 of the rolags in my supported spindles current project. I’m fascinated by how the singles look and i am super curious how they’ll look when plied. I need a lot more of this kind of experience to understand what roving or rolags become when you actually spin them and how singles look when you combine them. #spinning #Handspinning #FiberArts I stopped counting the days of supported spindle spinning but suffice to say I definitely feel like each day gets easier and better.

The other morning I was thinking about the possibility of making supported spindles out of metal (instead of wood or 3D printed polymer) - machining them I guess? I imagine a nicely shaped shaft, and a disc of some sort for the bottom weight, possible threaded on the shaft and on the disc to allow the discs to be changed out as desired. That’s the simple version, before adding cool features. #spinning #handspinning #metalwork @LilPecan @JamesK
