Jerry Falwell and #MeToo agree that men who want sex are evil.

When Christian Fundamentalist Conservatives and Radical Feminists agree, people who still have some common sense need to stick together and fight for sanity.

primal.netHeather_860The Democrats Are Now The Moral Majority - in the worst possible way One of the most fascinating things in the last few decades of U.S. politics is the total reversal of the sex-positive vs sex-negative positions of the two main parties. In the 80s and 90s the Republicans were the party of Jerry Falwell and the Moral Majority. The sex-phobic Puritan idiots were all in the GOP. The sex-positive enjoy life and don't suppress healthy natural desires party was the Democrats. In the 90s the Rs tried desperately to beat Bill Clinton over the head with his sex scandals, and while some voters were disgusted by his dalliance with Lewinsky, overall he kinda made it so sex scandals don't matter. Now as we enter 2025 the opposite is true. Seems like every R in tarnation has half a dozen sex scandals and the Dems just won't shut up about them, and those Rs just keep winning elections. Maybe establishing a new slut-shaming left-wing Moral Majority wasn't a good idea. In the 90s the Rs talked about prudish moral rectitude non-stop, but they all had their own mistresses, and foibles even more scandalous. Now the Ds won't stop yammering righteous indignation about how Rs are morally bankrupt because they're much too horny and pay sex-workers, and so on. The script has flipped. The 2024 election was very close. Several relatively small things, done differently, would have made it a Democratic victory. Dems lost, in part, because they have become the party of hectoring prudes. "Heather, what? are you implying that Dems have been shaming voters for being too lustful and sinful?" you ask. Yes. and it has a lot to do with the infantilization of young adults. The vast majority of people have romantic/sexual relationships with people close to their own age. The median partner preference for women is her own age plus ~5 years, and for men his own age minus ~5 years. If you're a 20 year old man, looking for a partner, it's really quite likely that large numbers of women your age are going out with someone who's 25. Naturally you'd be dating someone who is 5 years younger, that is 15, but that's now taboo. It is so taboo in fact that none of these brand new 20 year old eligible voters will say that the stigma around and the literal criminalization of their natural desires makes them vote for the Republicans. They'll describe it in some other way. They'll obfuscate. They'll use dumb slang that means nothing. or they'll invent some nonsense about the border or the price of eggs. Was the 2024 election result backlash against #MeToo? In part, for sure. but it's bigger than that. #MeToo expanded and morphed into #TheHystera, a worldview that makes pretty much all sex some kind of sexual assault if not rape. How many times has our friend, the 20 year old male newly eligible voter, heard that Matt Gaetz is a child rapist? What did Gaetz do to earn that title? He had sex with a prostitute who hadn't yet turned 18. How many 20 year old men don't want to have sex with a 17 year old? Should they be ashamed of those desires? Should they seek professional help because they are pedos and a danger to society? The vast majority of those men know that their desires are natural and harmless. So activist Democrats calling them rapists and perverts for finding women 3 years younger than them arousing, must be really fucking annoying. Republicans, by boldly overlooking large quantities of sexual misconduct committed by many of their most prominent members, show horny 20 year old male voters that it's ok. The GOP understands and tolerates them. The Dems on the other hand call them predators and try to incarcerate them. Remember that there is zero evidence that teens having sex is harmful. There is zero evidence that age-gap sex is harmful. Shaming people for harmless desires is an awful thing to do. Because of the taboo all of this remains unspoken. but most of us know it's true. and even more people would see that it's true if they calmed down and looked at it objectively for a moment. #TheHysteria that makes people see sex predators everywhere causes Democrats' to lose elections, which results in dangerously stupid clowns controlling every branch of our government. It's time to admit that John Walsh and Chris Hansen were wrong and did tremendous damage to our society. It's time to embrace young adults as capable strong individuals. It's time to stop infantilizing, demeaning, and disempowering them. Some Democrats ask "Why do young men listen to vile bat-shit crazy morons like Jordan Peterson and Andrew Tate? What can we do to offer those boys a different vision of masculinity?" First, stop calling them boys. It's demeaning. Second, you can't get the right answer because you're asking the wrong question. The right question is "How have we screwed up so badly that fucking idiots like Jordan Peterson and Andrew Tate look good by comparison?" Dear Democrats, you shamed them for having normal natural healthy sexual desires. You called them predators, pedos, rapists, wannabe rapists, and toxic. There is a way out. Treat young people with respect. Stop telling them their brains don't work because they're under 25. Stop calling them children when they obviously aren't. Stop pushing the rules of consent to absurd lengths. Repeal the idiotic notions that sex is rape if one person has more power, one person had a few drinks, both people had a few drinks, one person is older, etc. I've been a dedicated progressive Democrat all my life. I've seen us win. I've seen us lose. but lately we've been losing to the lowest form of pond scum imaginable, and it makes me wonder how we managed to fuck up so badly. It's not just the one thing. Our leaders have done just about everything wrong. but the alienation of young men because #TheHysteria interprets their healthy erotic desires as evil toxic and predatory has not helped the Democratic Party with that demographic. In short, stop being sex-phobic Puritan idiots.

So this guy hired sex workers. Some of whom were under 18. Nowhere do we find info about their precise ages. The prostitutes were not identified or interviewed. They did not testify or give depositions. It's literally impossible to judge if any harm was done to anyone. But sex-phobic hysteria demands that we scream about the bogey man, the all pervasive but undefined, undefinable, and essentially meaningless term "trafficking"

northdakotamonitor.com/2025/03

Soledad O'Brien praised a company for firing a man for being creepy. OK.

So to be fair all people who seem creepy should be fired from all jobs, right?

What is the objective criteria for creepiness that shows the line between odd behavior and fire-able "creepiness"?

Did anyone see the news from Vienna, where six teenagers committed long term sexual abuse of a 29 year old woman?

Teens are not children. They are not innocent. They are not only victims. They are also perpetrators. Americans putting themselves into a mindset where teenagers are mentally only little kids is so wrong on so many levels and creates a myriad of problems. Our laws need to take reality into account. Otherwise we're gonna keep seeing all sorts of bizarre injustices.

primal.netHeather_860Obviously False, But Nobody Seems To Mind I grew up at a time when everybody knew that teens were young adults. Nobody even questioned that. There was no hysteria about teens having sex. A lot of things were terrible back then, but our society was able to give a level of basic respect to the 14-20 crowd which is now completely lost. So for me, it's just an obvious truth. It took a little time to figure out how the mainstream worldview got so fucked up, but it's basically this: in the 80s Stranger Danger panic consumed people's minds. It was irrational, but it set the stage for very fearful overprotective parenting. That then morphed into Sex Predator panic, and pedophiles-are-everywhere hysteria. (which happened mostly in the USA where you could at one time get tens of thousands of dollars if you claimed that the priest or scout leader you fooled around with once "traumatized" you) As helicopter parenting became more pervasive the ages at which sons and daughters were sheltered and "protected" got higher and higher. Lenore Skenazy wrote an excellent book about how fearful parents are making everything worse. She mostly focuses on pre-pubescents, but the trend is the same. It's a paradigm that says young = stupid = needs protection = must be stripped of all rights and responsibilities. Then by preventing the young from gaining experience, the young actually do get worse at doing things, and it all becomes a vicious circle. We end up creating the very problem we set out to solve. In order to "protect" them, the helicopters need to control them. It's much easier to justify controlling a vulnerable child than to justify controlling adult sons and daughters. So they must be considered children, which means puberty must be ignored, which means everything they believe relies on legal distinctions like "minor" or "can't even buy beer", but those are flimsy and very unsatisfying. So they seized on the "developing brain" bullshit, which is obviously false, but they want to believe it, so they do.

Listen to victims.

Most people know the story of Polanski's crime. So they can just skip the first 15 minutes.

The last 20 minutes however are really important unfiltered views of the victim. It's a perspective rarely heard and extremely important.
