18k visite: sono orgoglioso del successo (grazie!) ma ora ho anche tanta responsabilità, ho quindi aggiornato la guida dopo i fatti di Mozilla con:

🔸 Browser Estremi: #Brave (privacy-by-default) e #Librewolf (zero tracciamento).

🔸 Browser Tradizionali: #Vivaldi (VPN gratis, multipiattaforma) e #Waterfox (fork di firefox indipendente).

I have been trying to make the point that when we give up our privacy, we give up our security for a long time. This is an article and short video from 2017. I could have made the same statements today.

I think many more are seeing the same. I know most of you here do.

Not long after I can't find any reason to keep Zen Browser around I removed it. I still have one would say a web browser collection and rather have vastly different ones for different use cases. I already had Librewolf and Floorp that I continue to use, Chromium for the odd websites that aren't work that well in Firefex based browsers and lastly qutebrowser that use mainly for opening up links that I see in posts.
I think for now I can stop experimenting with browsers, except if I find one that I haven't tried yet that's preferably not a chromium based one. I tried out any of them that interested me, some of them are around for a long time that I wanted to check out, the others are the ones that I never tried. In the first category that I check out sometimes is Vivaldi. Those that fall into the later category Zen Browser, Floorp and Mullvad Browser.
While Mullvad Browser would be a good choice only if I use any VPN, which I don't and don't see a reason to use it without one.
And yes I have admit Zen and Floorp are both have some little bugs that I had encountered while using them, all of those where UI related. But until I found these bugs really annoying in Floorp I will continue to keep it around and use it.

How to PREVENT Vivaldi from doing this in the future (see screenshots, alt text included).

Dear Vivaldi,

I like your web browser, and have been very vocal concerning the support and adaption of Vivaldi Browser. But for a company, whose browser starts up claiming "Made with Love in Europe", you picked a company (Proton) that falls under Us Jurisdiction, whose CEO supports Donald Trump and his fellow, Nazis. I am greatly disappointed.

I'm not sure what to think about @Vivaldi's integration of Proton VPN directly into the browser.

While this doesn't, necessarily, prevent choice, it does kinda impede it a bit.

This is the kind of behavior that has gotten Mozilla Firefox in trouble in the past. This is the behavior of Mozilla that has been the exact reason I've avoided Firefox (what will be forced on me next?).

Just be a really good web browser, please? I'd rather not have to go looking for another browser.

After ditching browser after browser due to privacy, AI, or whatever nonsense, I find myself using Konqueror.

It's kind of a breath of fresh air. Google is hostile towards it and I miss having a Bitwarden plugin but I think I'll survive.

I've set up #Proton VPN on my home router, so all my devices are now connected through it. This means I'll rarely need to use the VPN functionality on individual devices. I will rarely need to use the functionality myself.

It’s true that having the VPN at the OS level is more secure. A browser extension only encrypts browser traffic.

However, I think this setup is a solid stepping stone for those who haven’t used a VPN before.

It might spark curiosity about Proton's services and encourage more users to migrate from Big Tech to Proton, enhancing their online privacy and security.

#Vivaldi has been gaining a significant number of new users lately. People are increasingly valuing European software alternatives and prioritizing privacy.

This trend presents a great opportunity to further assist new users in enhancing their privacy and supporting European tech.
