If more people had some good sense, they would use country extension domain names.
But everyone wants that cool domain, for example, random dot social, as opposed to random dot ch.
Corporate America, governed under Us Law, is going to have a lot more oversight on the Internet, and many of you are not paying attention.

So I've bought the prettiest domain name possible without selling my kidney. It is marked as "premium", but costs 100 USD annually:

It's not "6" and not related to #Arcane. It's the first two letters of my last name.
Now I'm slowly realising how much work I need to do to migrate all my #selfhosted services...
I'm starting to actively move things out of the US - some of these will be easier (such as DigitalOcean to OVHCloud) and some will be harder (such as moving away from Google).
One I'm struggling with is a domain provider - is there a good UK or EU-based provider here for my collection that I can transfer over?

Well, good news. I open a ticket with Scaleway, and everything is resolved. 
The theory I have is I actually opened my account January 2025, 3 months ago, but I did not use it. Now, 3 months later, I logged in, and started to secure my account, add all my important information, and this could have looked suspicious. Still, it had my worried for a moment.

As someone who has previously been a victim of ID Theft, it makes me really uncomfortable that a web hosting provider would ask so much information, to approve your account, approve it, and then quickly lock it before you could do anything. I currently have no services with Scaleway (or any previous services). This feels shady.

Requirements:
- MFA auth
- be a UK entity
- VAT invoices
Anti-requirements:
- not be Beasts (as I already like+use them, and the purpose of this change is to decouple my hosting+DNS-provider from my registrar)
- not be PF (I sincerely hope that TB-at-PF is doing ok, but their lack of responsiveness on a recent issue has made me conclude that relying on a 1-man-band for domain regs isn't sensible)

Wer sie vorher kostenlos (von meiner Seite aus) übernehmen möchte, möge sich bei mir melden, ansonsten geht sie in freie Wildbahn und landet eventuell bei Domaingrabbern.
