Margaret Staal-Kropholler, frequently referred to as Margaret Kropholler, (1891–1966) was the first woman in the Netherlands to practice as a professional architect. Recently, I made a box for the Association of Dutch Designers @bno_nl, as a retirement gift for a colleague. She received such an overwhelmingly amount of retirement cards, that we decided to make an additional one.

The box is covered with cream natural linen from Van Heek textiles and lined with pink Toile du Marais from Winter Company.

Dutch architect Hendricus Theodorus Wijdeveld was the editor and frequent designer of the groundbreaking magazine (named “Upheaval” in Dutch). This issue was devoted to Irish furniture designer and architect Eileen Gray. A box in a box made for the Association of Dutch Designers @bno.nl as a retirement gift for a colleague.

The box is covered and lined with natural linen, the inner box or cradle with pink Toile du Marais, produced by @vanheektextiles and @wintercompany_group. Both the box and the series of multi-coloured retirement cards are foil blocked in white.

Some of my clients look into reproducing the image literally, others use the graphical patterns (weavers mostly), scan it in 2D (for inkjet printing) or scan it in 3D (for vinyl embossing). After thirty years still surprising sometimes what my clients see in my designs.
